Salt Ceremony and Salt Covenant Wedding Rituals

A salt ceremony is a part of your wedding, accompanying your vows, symbolizing a connection to nature, an unbreakable promise, and ancient wisdom. For my Wilmington and Wrightsville Beach sacred salt wedding ceremonies, the basic steps remain the same:

  • The couple exchanges customized vows; I am a personalized wedding officiant and each ceremony is as unique as the salt itself

  • The couple is presented with the one-of-a-kind salt that I intentionally hand-harvest just for them

  • I speak on the intentionality of when the salt was harvested for the couple, either what makes the salt special to them, if it was harvested on an auspicious date like full moon or anniversary, or if the couple themselves collected the water to make the salt themselves

  • The couple joins the salt together into a keepsake salt cellar; the individual grains of salt can never be separated

  • The keepsake salt cellar is yours to hold the salt in your kitchen or cherished space in your home

A salt covenant is a term with historical and Biblical associations. Because of the high value of salt, it was used similar to gold to back an agreement and seal a deal. Also, if you welcomed hospitality into your home and offered salt on the table it was a signal of good will and safety. Salt was used to preserve food and is an essential mineral in life as well, making it a sign of preservation.

Travel over 15 miles from my home in Wilmington/Wrightsville Beach is +$1/mile.

Reserve Your Date

To lock in the date of your special day and have Dena as your officiant a 50% deposit is required.

If the wedding is in less than 30-days, payment must be received in-full in-advance.
